Your Weekend Starts Here! So What's In Store On Saturday?

By Sam Elliott

We’re now into the last four weeks of the National League season - and quite simply there is just no room for error!

Leaders Leyton Orient have a tricky run-in and Justin Edinburgh knows games in hand mean precious little.

The first of two challenging away games inside four days is Saturday’s visit to Barnet, who are in a better place thanks to a clinical victory over Aldershot in midweek.

The O’s are two points clear and have two games on the rest of the top four - the next week could tell us quite a lot.

There’s no doubt that the chasing pack must make the most of any gifts that should fall their way.

Solihull Moors are second despite a week to forget, and victory at home to Dover Athletic is crucial if they want to keep pushing.

Salford City kept their title flame flickering at Harrogate but they host a Bromley side who have scored seven goals in their last two games.

Wrexham are fourth - and four points off top - and really can’t afford any more winless weekends.

Their task is a difficult one as the go to play-off hunters Ebbsfleet United.

AFC Fylde manager Dave Challinor has already told us that the focus is now on securing a play-off place and ending the season as high up as possible.

You can read what he has to say ahead of their live BT Sport game at Aldershot here.

Anything other than victory for Braintree Town will see them relegated this weekend.

The Iron face Gateshead at Cressing Road and will be the first team doomed to the drop if they don’t collect three points. Don’t forget the Heed need the points themselves as they hunt the top seven.

Sutton United are still in touch and Havant & Waterlooville’s poor away record simply has to be put right - they are now seven points from safety ahead of a game both sides must win at Gander Green Lane.

Boreham Wood
are falling fast and now sit one place outside the relegation zone.

Luke Garrard’s team head to Barrow but they know three points could cut adrift the teams below them.

FC Halifax’s
home form in fantastic and they’re back at the Shay against a nearly safe Maidenhead United.

Maidstone United’s time is almost up, they’re at Harrogate looking to stave off the drop for as long as possible.

Eastleigh occupy the final play-off spot and have one or more games in hand on their rivals - victory against Hartlepool United would be huge for Ben Stevens’ team.

Chesterfield
and Dagenham meet in the other match with the winner practically securing their status for next season.
