Young Fan Harry Meets His Minstermen Hero Parkin

A young York City supporter had a memorable experience ahead of the club's game with Brackley Town.

Six-year-old Harry Spencer was hit with a stray ball during the Minstermen's game with Bradford (Park Avenue) recently.

When the club heard about the unfortunate event, they invited the youngster to meet his favourite player - Jon Parkin.

The striker met Harry at Bootham Crescent and presented him with a York City football, signed by the whole first team squad as a gift.

His mother Carol admitted the incident hasn't deterred her son from cheering on Sam Collins' men.

"It was a lovely gesture by the club and Harry was so excited when he heard he was going to meet Jon," she told the club's website.

"We were watching from the Main Stand when a Bradford player kicked the ball out of play and it hit Harry.

"He was naturally a bit upset at the time but it hasn't put him off coming to games."
