York City Boss Brings In New Striker

York City have signed striker Gary Martin on a short-term deal ahead of Saturday’s game against Curzon Ashton at Bootham Crescent.

Martin, 27, is currently a free agent after leaving Belgian club Lokeren.

Released by Middlesbrough in 2010, Martin has spent the last seven years playing in Hungary, Iceland, Denmark, Norway, and Belgium.

His former clubs include FC Ujpest, IA, Vendsyssel, KR Reykjavik, Vikingur, and Lillestrom SK.

In 2013, Martin played in the Europa League for KR Reykjavik having won the Icelandic title and finishing the season as the league’s joint top goalscorer.
