Yates Happy Despite Gap Growing At The Bottom

Mark Yates was satisfied with his players despite dropping home points and still not pulling themselves from the foot of the National League table.

A 0-0 draw with in-form Boreham Wood further demonstrates their improvement, the Solihull Moors manager said.

His team are still 24th and now ten points from safety after Leyton Orient won again.

But Yates said he couldn’t pick fault with his squad despite no improvement in their position since he replaced Richard Money.

“I’m delighted with the point if I’m being honest,” he told the club’s audioboom service. “It was a really bitty game - neither side got into the flow of it really and got the ball down and played their game.

“We didn’t hit the heights but it’s another clean sheet and another point.

“Sometimes you have to just say to the players ‘well done’ - I can’t fault their effort.

“It’s just that neither side looked like they were going to score. We battled and we fought - let’s not forget we were playing against a team who haven’t lost in 11 league games.

“Our team have come in so much in the last few weeks, but we just didn’t quite have enough to break through today.

“We defended very well and we know we need to keep adding at the top end of the pitch.”
