Wright Relishing First Darlington Game In Charge

Tommy Wright takes charge of Darlington for the first time and can’t wait for their local derby away at Blyth Spartans.

Wright took a watching brief last weekend and saw Darlington gain a late win against Bradford Park Avenue, writes Tom Feaheny.

“I’m relishing this first game, I know a bit about Blyth as I faced them a few weeks ago, they are a good footballing side,” Wright said to the club's website.

“I will tell the lads to play, I’m not trying to reign them in, their are a lot of good players who, I want them to express themselves and use that going into this derby.”

Wright who was officially appointed Darlo’s boss last Friday is pleased with what he has seen so far and believes they can aim high.

“I’ve taken over a dressing room full of hard working, honest men, they are all wanting to do their best in the group, I’ve had a training session and enjoyed it and so did they.

“The aim is simple, that is to get near and around the play-offs in the next few games, this group is good enough to do just that.”
