The club have been using nearby Nine Acre field for their training this season but have big plans afoot for the future.
A brand new, purpose-built training complex which will include a replica playing surface to that of the Racecourse Ground is due to be built by 2020.
A statement on the club's website reads: "Wrexham AFC today announce that it has been working with Wrexham Council during our time at Nine Acre to identify a potential new site for a new purpose built training venue.
"We are delighted that Wrexham Council have supported our proposal for the new long term training ground to be developed at the former Groves School in the centre of town.
"Subject to approvals, addressing current conditions and legal requirements for the site, it is hoped that we could begin training at the Groves site as early as 2020.
"The proposal is to create a purpose built training venue that would include two brand new pitches suitable for a professional football club with one of the two pitches modeled on the Racecourse playing surface.
"This is the next step in reinstating the infrastructure needed for future success."
