Worth The Wait! Barrow Say They've Got The Right Man

By Sam Elliott

Barrow’s long wait for a new manager is over - Ian Evatt is to take charge at Holker Street.

Evatt replaced Ady Pennock, who left the club nearly a month ago having kept the club in the National League on the final day of the season.

The former Derby County, QPR, Chesterfield and Blackpool defender is up to the challenge in his first job in management according to managing director Andrew Casson.

He thanked the club’s fans for their patience and says his fresh ideas will help push the club forward.

“I am delighted to welcome Ian to the club to lead us forward. We spent a lot of time talking to our shortlist of candidates and Ian’s leadership credentials really stood out to us,” Casson told the club’s website.

“It was clear to us that he has the drive and determination to win at all costs which he has done at all levels of the game.

“He has a fantastic network of footballing contacts from such an impressive playing career which will be important as we build our squad for next season.

“Now the appointment has been made I am looking forward to working with both Ian and Paul Ogden to work quickly on recruitment and get everything in place so we can hit the ground running in pre-season.

“It was a big decision to make and were confident we have the right man for the job after completing such a thorough search. To that end, I’d like to thank the fans for their patience over the last few weeks.”
