All of which means that the club’s application to the Football Foundation for part-funding of a new home covered North Stand – that will cost close to £750,000 – can now be formally submitted and heard on Wednesday, June 6th – albeit some months later than first hoped.
Chairman Danny Hunter was just thankful to finally get everything ratified, as he told the club`s official website: “Things can often be held up for all sorts of reasons or red tape and it can in truth be very frustrating. But, it’s also important for everyone concerned to have a voice, to be patient, and to follow a process that ensures everyone is happy moving forward.
“In terms of the delay, there’s absolutely no point in any of us playing the blame game, and I’m just grateful I can now focus on getting our Football Foundation application heard within the next few weeks. If I’m successful, then our community and club will benefit, and we can start building our supporters the brand new covered North Stand that they so deserve.
“The officers, especially Hilary Shade, and the counsellors of Hertsmere, are all deserving of my thanks and have once again been more than demanding, but incredibly supportive and meticulous, in not only their requirements but with their expectations of the club. That said, and I’ve said it many times, this is our town and our club, and we must now move forward together with optimism in regards to our progress and our local community’s football future”.
