Bruno Andrade scored twice and Angelo Balanta also got on the scoresheet as Wood won 3-2 at Victoria Road against a play-off rival.
The victory moved Wood up to fifth in the table and just four points off second-placed Aldershot Town.
Garrard’s side turn their attention to the FA Trophy this weekend after a tough run of away games at Sutton United, Leyton Orient and Dagenham & Redbridge.
Asked if they’d sent a message to their play-off rivals with the win at the Daggers, the boss told the club’s Youtube channel: “I think so, yes. We’re into fifth now.
“We’ve had three really tough away games against Sutton, Leyton Orient and Dagenham and come away with five points. It shows what we’ve got in the dressing room.
“I trust every single one of the lads and have belief that they can kick on. Dagenham played at a good tempo but we could have been three or four to the good before their reaction.”
Despite their impressive showing on Tuesday night, boss Garrard still wants to strengthen his squad.
“We’ve still got to get some more bodies in the building,” he said. “I’ve been discussing it with the chairman because we need to get a few across the line.”
