Luke Garrard was in no mood to beat around the bush after his Boreham Wood side slumped to their third defeat in four games.
After crashing out of the FA Cup to Torquay United, managerless AFC Fylde put them to the sword on Saturday afternoon, leaving them in mid-table.
"I thought we were flat, I thought we were naïve," Garrard told the club's official website. "Our performance was very lacklustre, and we didn’t deal with them at all.
"How can I say anything other than negatives? There wasn’t a single positive on that pitch today. It’s not rocket science. If you have a team with five or six passengers, you’re not going to win a game of football.
"We are a club that need fighters," he added. "I need a team of players that would run through a brick wall for me – at the minute, they couldn’t run through tracing paper. They aren’t good enough."
Promotion finalists AFC Fylde started the day in the bottom three of the MANarama National League after a poor start to the season.
But the table can lie, as Garrard went on to explain.
"We are a team that have got ambitions to be in top half of the division and cement our place in the National League," he said.
"This league is relentless. No matter who you’re playing against, they will always be a threat. If you feel like you can turn it on and off in the National League, you will get a rude awakening.
"There isn’t a single team in this league that I would take lightly - they all have their qualities."
