It’s the Wood who take on Tranmere Rovers in Sunday’s Vanarama National League Promotion Final after the Hertfordshire club held their nerve on Sunday.
They are just one game away from the Football League for the first time after defeating Sutton United 3-2 at Gander Green Lane - a thrilling encounter in front of the BT Sport cameras.
Manager Garrard says his team’s efforts in the south west London sun were “incredible”.
Not just because of the temperatures, but because the stretched side were taken all the way by AFC Fylde in Thursday night’s eliminator.
Now the Meadow Park boss wants his outsiders to finish the job.
“We spoke at the start of the season and said that we can get out of this league,” he said. “That wasn’t a soundbite - it’s where we felt we was a club and as a group at that time.
“We now want to complete what we started back then next weekend against Tranmere.
“We had 56 hours of recovery time from the Fylde game before we played Sutton. We come away from home to go and score three goals away from home against one of the best sides in the division this year.
“That’s without our talisman Morgan Ferrier. We’re hopeful that we can actually get him fit and on the pitch for Saturday.
“Let’s make no mistake, Tranmere have great quality and great experience all over the park. Their forward and frightening, they have pace out wide and strong players at the back. It’s a one-off game.”
There will be plenty more build up to Wembley coming your way this weekend.
