Woking's Bright Spark Ward Wants A Win At Wrexham

By Sam Elliott

Woking star man this season Joe Ward knows the importance of the Cards picking themselves up quickly from a disappointing defeat to Leyton Orient last weekend.

The Cards couldn’t get it together against the O’s and hardly registered a shot on goal.

Winger Ward has been a bright spark for Anthony Limbrick’s men, who are hoping to end their away troubles when they face Wrexham this afternoon.

“We need to be better against Wrexham, I do and the team do as well,” said Ward, who signed this summer and has already won over the fans.

“We need to pick ourselves up quickly. While Saturday wasn’t a terrible performance, we’ve got to do a bit more I think.

“We got to show our togetherness as a group and if we can get that first away win, that will set us up well for the months ahead.”

Ward added: “We just couldn’t get going last Saturday. Tactically Leyton Orient were a bit better and we just couldn’t get our passes right or get on the ball. We just fizzled out.

“Personally I think I have had a decent start to life at Woking and I am enjoying it. A goal, an assist and two man of the match performances. I’m happy with my contribution.

“But we want to get back to winning ways and quickly. Bank Holiday weekends are never easy with games coming thick and fast but we have got it in us to go and get some good results.”

After their long trip to Wrexham, Woking return to Surrey and face Torquay United on Monday afternoon, 3pm kick off.
