Will It Be Goals Galore As The Free Scorers Face Off?

The National League’s leading scorers kick off this season’s play-offs against the side with the division’s greatest goal getter.

And Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver hopes that doesn’t put a curse on things!

BT Sport’s viewers are sure to be entertained tonight when the goals kings clash.

AFC Fylde and Danny Rowe welcome Town to Mill Farm and expectations are high.

But not, Weaver says, of his Harrogate side.

“There should be goals,” the manager said as he looked ahead to Wednesday night’s Eliminator.

“Saying that it will probably be a very tight game now!

“We think we have goals in our line up - we’re better while we try to attack teams as we have shown this season.

“It’s been a great first year at this level and now we want to see if we can go one stage further.”

Harrogate in their first year in the top tier of Non-League football do not have any demands to play on their minds.

“I think the pressure may be off us a little bit. It is when you aren’t fancied,” he adds.

“We have done well and there’s little pressure because we’re against big clubs with household names.

“The only pressure is the pressure we put on ourselves.”

And they have called in a favour from their opponents’ Fylde coast neighbours to try and get a result.

“It’s a huge week, we’re going to train at Fleetwood Town before and make sure we give ourselves the best chance possible,” Weaver said.

“We know what a good team Fylde are and how strong they are against the teams at the top end of the league.

“If we go into it timid and worried, they are a team who can look after themselves.

“I think both clubs are well equipped to do well in the play-offs but clearly only one can go on!

“We have made a big step up, but the players are ready - they have the menataily to not be nearly men.”
