Will It Be A Champion Good Friday In North And South?

We couldn’t have a second title winner before the end of March, could we?

After Chesterfield wrapped things up last weekend, could we be about to witness Tamworth being crowned Vanarama National League North winners on Good Friday?

It will happen if they win at home to doomed Bishop’s Stortford - and they get some good news from elsewhere with dropped points for Scunthorpe United at home to King’s Lynn Town, officially nailing their title coffin.

The Iron’s focus must surely now be on securing home advantage in the play-offs, but with their form iffy even that’s now not a given.

Brackley Town are just three points behind and head to Gloucester City, who know anything but a win surely won’t keep them in the division past the Easter weekend. Chorley may have good days as well as bad but they can close the gap to second place by winning at Darlington.

The Quakers needs the points for survival of course and they can’t afford to give Rushall Olympic a sniff. The side fourth from bottom are at Alfreton Town while Farsley Celtic - like Darlington on 46 points - have home advantage over Southport, who should be safe with a point on Friday.

The race for the play-offs is intense and two North East rivals collide with just a point between them.

Spennymoor Town have won seven in a row but South Shields have taken 12 points from a possible 12 and fancy extending their run in a massive clash with a huge crowd expected.

There will also be a bumper gate at Huish Park as Yeovil Town start their National League South title countdown with a home game against Torquay United.

Their advantage is nine points and only Chelmsford City can catch them, the Clarets taking on struggling Dartford on Good Friday.

Farnborough manager Spencer Day urged the club’s fans to come out in great numbers when his in-form side look to make it seven wins in a row at home to Chippenham - a win may be enough for them to jump into the play-off pack.

St Albans City currently have hold of seventh spot, they are at home to Braintree Town while Worthing know they need to start finding some wins. They’re at Havant & Waterlooville, who could go down this weekend.

Hampton & RB aren’t happy just being in the play-offs - they want to tackle them in front of their own fans. They meet Tonbridge while Dover Athletic will go down if they don’t beat Welling United.

Elsewhere, Truro City try to slide away from trouble when they face Slough Town, Taunton are at Weston-super-Mare looking to climb back out of the bottom four and Eastbourne Borough really need a win at home to Maidenhead United.
