Wilkin Says Reaching Semi-Final Great News For The Whole Town

Brackley Town boss Kevin Wilkin says his side delivered and the whole area will have a feel good factor as they made it to the semi-finals of the FA Trophy.

A 2-1 win against fellow Vanarama National League North side Stockport County ensured they will now face Wealdstone for a chance to play at Wembley, writes Tom Feaheny.

“It is great for the club and for the whole town,” Kevin Wilkin said. “We have a two-legged semi-final tie to look forward to after a great game this evening," Wilkin told the club's website.

"We had to work hard without the ball and full credit to Stockport who played well and had a lot of the ball.”

Shane Byrne got the winner and Wilkin says the strike was something special.

“The goal by Shane was fantastic. It was a goal worthy of winning the tie and sometimes you just need something special like that. We needed to hit back quickly having conceded. "

So they are now just two games from a game in the final and Wilkin says it would mean a lot though the focus is now back on the league.

"I would love to take this group of players to a Wembley final but the league remains our bread and butter and we have to keep our focus for the coming league games ahead of the semi-finals. Saturday’s league game at Stockport will be a tough one.”
