Widdrington Not Worried About Social Media Stabs!

Tommy Widdrington says it’s better the devil you know - and couldn’t care less if people have pot shots at him signing players he used to work with.

Last week, the Shots completed the signing of Cameron Hargreaves, who played under the EBB boss at King’s Lynn Town.

He isn’t the only ex-Linnet to link up with his old boss with Josh Barrett and defender Olly Scott also moving over to the National League club.

The Shots also already have Theo Widdrington, who followed his dad not long after he waved goodbye to The Walks.

The ex-Bristol Rovers boss - active on social media - knows some people will have plenty to say about his latest deal but it seems like they’re wasting their breath.

He knows how well Hargreaves will do in his midfield and says the manager says he wanted to do the deal a lot earlier.

“I know one or two people will say ‘another one he knows from previous clubs’ but to be honest it goes straight over my head!” he told the club’s website.

“Cameron, primarily a central midfielder, brings qualities to this group we simply didn’t show enough of last season – his energy and fitness levels will be second to none whilst his hunger and desire are exactly the ingredients we feel we need to add to some of the genuine technical ability we already have at our disposal

“If truth be known, I would have signed Cameron earlier but for one reason or another it just didn’t happen. I feel with the lads in the group Cam is already familiar with, and that we’ve worked together before, should be looked as nothing other than a real positive.”
