Who Will Up Turn Up The Temperature As The Freeze Arrives?

By Sam Elliott

The temperatures are plummeting but there’s a chance to up the heat with a number of sides otherwise engaged this weekend.

York City, Chesterfield, Barnet, Eastleigh and Aldershot are on FA Cup duty and that gives those around them the chance to put some points on the board while they’re distracted by their second round commitments.

Two of the teams wanting to take advantage have promotion on their minds - second place Bromley face Rochdale, who find themselves two points off a top seven place.

Managerless Woking, without a home win since August, sit just one place above the drop zone but their game with Gateshead has already been postponed.

Ebbsfleet United could haul them under if they win the day’s big game down the bottom. The Fleet travel to Kidderminster Harriers, pictured, and manager Dennis Kutrieb wants his team to build on that stunning 4-1 win at Oldham Athletic.

He said: “Hopefully we can kick on from here. It’s been a long time since we last won a match. I could see everyone was relieved and happy after many weeks, even months, of suffering.”

The Latics need to bounce back from that loss at home to Boreham Wood, manager Micky Mellon has demanded.

Altrincham just want to play matches - after their thumping 6-1 over Solihull Moors, but it is frustration with their game with Dorking Wanderers called off.

It looks like it is game on for Oxford City who welcome Maidenhead United and want to get a big three points on the board.
