Who Will Make The Big FA Cup Headlines This Weekend?

By Sam Elliott

In these ever changing times one thing remains constant - FA Cup fever!

The famous old competition may have had a lick of paint this season with the pandemic restrictions but it’s value has never been more important.

The prize money for Saturday's Fourth Qualifying Round is £9,375 for the winners - with the unlucky losers banking a cheque for £3,125.

The National League clubs join the part this weekend - and they sit alongside the 16 National League North and South sides still going strong.

Make that 17. Chorley, of course, have won a bye into the First Round draw which takes place on Monday as the League One and League Two clubs enter.

Will one of our sides draw our recent winners Wigan Athletic or Portsmouth? A possible trip to former Premier League sides Sunderland, Bolton Wanderers, Hull City and Ipswich Town is also up for grabs.

There will be live coverage on the BBC of Hartlepool United’s intriguing trip to Ilkeston Town.

A week on from their National League ding dong, Stockport County and Chesterfield come together.

There is more than one same division battle of course - it’s derby day down south as Aldershot and Woking cross swords.

Solihull Moors are bang in form and Wrexham aren’t - can Dean Keates side get things together in the FA Cup?

Barnet have their work cut out for them at Leiston - especially with all ties being settled on the day.

Another banana skin that will need avoiding is in the North East.

Well-backed South Shields welcome FC Halifax Town, while Hayes & Yeading make the short trip to old foes Wealdstone - Dean Brennan buoyed by back-to-back wins over Wrexham and Chesterfield.

Torquay United must tread carefully - Sholing fancy their chances and the joint National League leaders have been serviced notice that they are in for a fight this weekend.
