The 36 year old has made over 300 appearences for the Vanarama National League side and is set for more after agreeing a new deal, writes Tom Feaheny.
Whitaker played the first 45 minutes of pre-season victory over Bury on Tuesday evening and then put pen-to-paper on a new deal with the Silkmen.
After progressing in the youth team and reserves, he made his debut back in February 2002.
In 2006, he left Moss Rose and joined League One side Port Vale, he would go onto play for Oldham Athletic and Chesterfield before returning to Macc in 2013.
Last season Whitaker was again a regular making 43 National League appearances and scoring eight goals.
He also played a key role in their run in the FA Cup to the Second Round as well as the FA Trophy Final at Wembley.
