The returning boss has taken seven points from three games since agreeing to take the job again.
The Blues beat Slough Town 3-2 and he says confidence is growing again as they sit fifth in the National League South table.
“There was a lot of desire and workrate,” he said after the match, the second win in a row after Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Welling United.
“We’ve not really trained since I’ve come back but we’re getting through games with a lot of heart.
“Credit to the lads. Their reaction to both goals we’ve conceded has been brilliant.
“They are rising to the challenge and I’m proud of what’s being produced
“It was a real hard earned win against a good side with two really good managers. It’s a brilliant three points for that lads.”
