Wheeler Wants Ricay To Make Amends Fast After First Loss

Billericay boss Harry Wheeler has called on his squad to take their first defeat of the season on the chin and make amends on Monday, writes Tom Scott.

Wheeler’s side had dropped just two points in five games before Saturday afternoon but succumbed to a first defeat thanks to two quick second-half goals.

Speaking to the club’s official video service, Wheeler said it’s the kind of result you just have to take on the chin.

“We got what we deserved today,” he said. “I didn’t think we were great at all from start to finish.

“We had some great chances, we should’ve gone in one up at half-time. Then, second-half we had another chance to go in front and missed then they took theirs.

“I just think they were better all over, as individuals today we were too far off it. We didn’t press enough, we didn’t get close enough and our passing quality wasn’t great.

“It wasn’t a good day at the office and I apologise to the fans. We’ve got to take it on the chin and try and make it up to them on Monday first and foremost.”

A shot at redemption is on the cards as Ricay entertain St Albans City on Monday.
