And as September draws to a close, some of our sides will be hoping for a change in fortunes as they look to climb the table.
The stand-out fixture this week has to be runaway leaders Chorley. They’re still unbeaten ten games in but face arguably their hardest test yet.
Chester are in town and they’re hitting their stride after a poor start to life in a lower division. They’ve not lost any of their league games this month.
We might only be on matchday 11, but could we have a relegation six-pointer already?
It’s not where either of FC United of Manchester or Nuneaton Borough would’ve liked to be at this stage.
But with just two league wins between them, this game promises to be a huge result for whoever comes away with the win.
Alfreton had lost two on the bounce before their FA Cup games this week. Billy Heath’s men remain in the top seven but face a stern test from Bradford (Park Avenue).
After parting with long-term manager Peter Beadle, Hereford’s on the field fortunes have showed no signs of improving.
And they’re in for a tough time this week as they host high-fliers Spennymoor Town, who will be looking to continue their fine form of late.
Speaking of fine form, Kidderminster Harriers will be looking to reignite theirs after their first defeat a fortnight ago.
Harriers entertain an Altrincham side who seem to like playing away. Can they add to their fine win at Bradford (Park Avenue) last time out?
Boston are on the road after a torrid time in the FA Cup. They head to Curzon Ashton having scored just two goals in their previous five outings.
After a superb August, Leamington have struggled to get going this month and will be fancied despite being the away side for their clash with Ashton United.
Elsewhere, York City host in-form Guiseley in an all Yorkshire clash. Stockport County make the trip to Darlington who need a win.
Despite losing only once this season, AFC Telford find themselves nine-points off the top.
Of course, that has a lot to do with Chorley’s fine form, but the Bucks can close the gap if they overcome Blyth Spartans and other results go their way.
Brackley may have surprised many so far, but their recent form shows no signs of letting up and they will head into the home game with Southport full of confidence.
