What's In Store In The National League South On Saturday?

By Tom Scott

There’s no FA Trophy lay-off for anyone in the National League South as we look forward to a full programme this weekend!

A number of the top sides play each other this week which could open the door for the chasing pack.

Dartford face the unenviable task of travelling to Plainmoor to face free-scoring Torquay United.

The Gulls lost top spot midweek and know a win against the Darts could see them scale the summit once again.

For that to happen, Gary Johnson’s men would need Woking to slip-up against Welling who themselves have ambition of a top three finish.

Steve King’s men have been flying in recent weeks and will fancy themselves to make good use of home advantage against the Cards.

Ian Allinson has been vocal about St Albans’ ambitions for a top seven finish - with their opponents Chippenham losing their last two, they could be heading to Wiltshire at just the right time.

Wealdstone are hunting down the play-offs but face a daunting trip to Bath City where not many people come away with the maximum.

Basement boys Weston-super-Mare are Essex bound to face promotion hopefuls Chelmsford. Will the Seagulls’ management change be justified?

Billericay are looking for a reaction against Slough. The Harry Wheeler regeneration has stalled in recent weeks, but goal-getter Jake Robinson is back.

John Coventry is confident about East Thurrock’s survival chances. A win against Oxford City, coupled with Hemel Hempstead winning at Gloucester could see the Rocks escape the drop zone.

Dulwich Hamlet and Truro will both be desperate for a win to prize themselves away from a looming relegation scrap.

Concord Rangers are the league’s draw specialists – incredibly, the Beachboys have took a point from eight of their 11 games since the turn of the year.

A play-off push may be a stretch but a win at Hampton & Richmond would keep the fire burning.

Hungerford can’t escape the bottom three but know a win against Eastbourne Borough would be a huge lift to their chances of being the right side of the dotted line come April.
