What's In Store In The National League South On Saturday?

By Sam Elliott

It’s not just in the National League of course where the perspective of the title race changes after every game.

There’s a cigarette paper between Woking and Torquay United - goal difference now only keeps the Gulls on top.

Saturday could be huge in the championship race as fourth place Billericay, so improved since Harry Wheeler’s return, host Gary Johnson’s side.

Woking will be wondering if it’s an opportunity for them to regain first place but Alan Dowson knows his team must take care of Chippenham, winners in two of their last three, at the Laithwaite’s.

Chelmsford City are themselves top of the form guide and Rod Stringer’s side are just about still in touch.

But two points from the last six available means they really have to win at Eastbourne to stay in the race.

There’s a cluster of the clubs vying for the top seven and two meet. Welling travel from south east London to north west where they find a Wealdstone side who just hit Weston-super-Mare for five.

Concord Rangers are still in there fighting and welcome Slough Town- who have just broken a seven-game winless run.

St Albans City know that if they don’t beat Dulwich Hamlet at home then their play-off dreams are all-but over for another season.

Gavin Rose’s Dulwich aren’t yet safe so they have it all to play for.

There’s are two big game down at the wrong end and East Thurrock, third from bottom, know a win against Truro City will drag them back into the mire.

The bottom two meet and after falling apart at home on Tuesday, Weston-super-Mare simply have to win at home to Hungerford - Seagulls fans will be well aware that three points for their team will throw the cat firmly among the pigeons in the relegation race.

Hampton & RB aren’t totally safe yet and Gary McCann knows there’s work still to do.

The Beavers head to Oxford City while Jerry Gill - fresh from signing his new contract - takes Bath City’s promotion challenge to Hemel Hempstead.

Dartford are looking good for the play-offs but there’s a lot riding on their home game with Gloucester City for both sides.
