What's Going On In The National League Tonight

By Sam Elliott

The weather may have cost us a couple of matches but don’t worry, there’s plenty of exciting games this evening to see us into March.

The month’s final matches are down to four following the postponements of FC Halifax Town’s home game against Dagenham & Redbridge, before the rain putting paid to Wealdstone chances of a fourth straight win against Boston United.

It’s game on for York City at Maidenhead United but manager Adam Hinshelwood says some of his squad have been struck down with a sickness bug.

The title chasers, who are hoping to cut Barnet’s advantage to six points this evening, “have some decisions to make” as they head to Berkshire knowing they need a win to apply some pressure.

Another manager desperate for three points tonight is Matty Taylor.

Things certainly haven’t gone to plan for him so far at Solihull Moors after seven defeats in eight but he will be happy tonight’s game at Aldershot Town has passed an early afternoon pitch inspection.

It’s also game on for Eastleigh and Gateshead, and both clubs will be happy with that.

Nine points from a possible 12 leaves the Heed with an outside title chance while Kelvin Davis’ Spitfires are looking for a fourth successive victory, a run that has energised their play-off push.

Rochdale manager Jimmy McNulty doesn’t want his players to read too much into their 4-0 loss to Barnet on Saturday.

Ahead of tonight’s trip to Tamworth, he said: “I have to credit Barnet . As much as we are disappointed in our performance, I think it’s unfair if I don’t.

“They are by far the best team to come here in my time at the club in the National League and in League Two as well. They are the best performing all round team since I have been involved here.

“We have to rejuvenate as quickly as possible now, the schedule is heavy. We’ve got an important week ahead of us.However heavily defeated we were against Barnet, it was still only three points lost.”
