What's Ahead In The National League This Evening

By Sam Elliott

The turnstiles are opened and gates finally unlocked as supporters step foot back inside stadiums for the first time in 2021.

As restrictions are eased, attention turns to the chase for the top seven tonight as all title talk is put on hold until the weekend.

With the penultimate matchday of the season ahead of us, first there are five fixtures - and one huge one in particular.

Wrexham and Notts County meet with the winner knowing they take a giant stride towards the top seven.

In a fixture originally scheduled for February before winter hit, victory for either side will see them installed as a red hot bet to extend their season.

It’s the battle of two of the oldest clubs in the world and both are hitting form at just the right time.

Eastleigh refuse to be discounted but know they may need to win last three of their last four to reach the play-off Promised Land.

Victory at Aldershot Town later is crucial - and Ben Strevens is backing his players to keep the fight going.

Solihull Moors fans are back and they couldn’t have time it any better.

They may have left it too late to make the play-offs, but seven wins from eight at home underlines their improvement under Mark Yates.

Barnet are in a much better place with Simon Bassey at the helm so they won’t be easy prey.

Yeovil Town are great at home too, they welcome Maidenhead United who of course like the big occasion.

Seven of Yeovil’s last ten games at Huish Park have ended in victory for Darren Sarll’s side.

Weymouth can certainly be proud of their first season back at this level.

They will play to a crowd against Boreham Wood, looking to sign off the season in style with a few more wins.

Luke Garrard’s side will be desperate to put Saturday right, throwing away a two-goal lead to lose at home to Wrexham.
