What's Ahead In The National League This Evening

By Sam Elliott

There may only be one game in each of the three divisions this evening but they could all have a big impact on the outlook.

National League leaders Barrow know the rewards on offers if they leave Dover Athletic with victory this evening.

Ian Evatt’s side will move ten points clear at the top of the table if they do the business in their game in hand.

But they won't have an easy night - Dover have taken seven points from nine in their last three home games and a win takes them level on points with the play-off places.

You could slip a cigarette paper between the clubs competing for a place in the National League North play-offs.

Altrincham currently occupy the final position - but things are so tight that a defeat could take them out of it, even though they are the only top half team in action!

Three clubs sit on 44 points, so a home victory over AFC Telford is crucial for Phil Parkinson.

The stats are on their side - Alty have won eight of their last ten matches in front of their own fans.

Hungerford Town are hoping for a National League South lifeline later on.

Ian Herring’s team are six points shy of safety - and have Saturday’s 7-1 defeat at Hampton still ringing in their ears.

But they will keep the fight alive if they beat Dorking Wanderers.

Marc White’s team will see it as a chance to get themselves back on form - they haven’t won for five games and currently hold the final play-off place.
