What's Ahead Across The National League This Evening

By Sam Elliott

There’s five more matches coming your way tonight - and there could be big movement in the three divisions’ promotion places.

A trio of games come in the Vanarama National League and we may see new leaders.

Chesterfield were seconds from maintaining top spot on Saturday tea-time before Torquay United offered a kick to the gut deep into stoppage time.

James Rowe is looking for his team to put that right when they go to Woking - who themselves let a 2-0 goal lead slip as they crumbled at Eastleigh.

The Spireites manager said: “We need to keep things in perspective, however tough was is to take.

“Now it’s about picking ourselves up and Tuesday will be a big challenge to us.”

Grimsby Town will lead the way for the first time if Chesterfield are defeated - and they win at Bromley.

They saw a fifth straight win pass them by after Maidenhead United plundered a point on Saturday but Paul Hurst refuses to dwell on that.

Bromley are looking for a third victory on the spin and Andy Woodman wants more of the same.

Altrincham boss Phil Parkinson refused to hide his delight after taking Notts County’s unbeaten record on Saturday.

Now he wants the same level of application at home to King’s Lynn Town - and if results go for them, the Robins could knock Wrexham out of the top seven.

In the National League North, York City are aiming to enhance their recovery.

After losing their first three, Steve Watson’s team have turned it around - they are looking for a fourth straight win against a Hereford side yet to win.

Clayton Donaldson, pictured, scored twice on Saturday as the Minstermen beat Darlington and the 37-year-old has been backed to keep the goals coming.

Chippenham Town are the surprise package so far in the National League South.

Wins over Slough, Havant and fellow strong starters Concord Rangers has the Bluebirds handily placed in fourth.

Ebbsfleet United hoped to be that high but a disrupted first two months has them in 15th with seven points.

Both sides want to enhance their hopes with success in Wiltshire later on.
