What Is Happening Across The National League On Saturday

By Sam Elliott

The FA Trophy may be diverting attention for plenty of our players this weekend, but don’t let that distract from a huge National League weekend.

The title chasers are all still in action - and it’s a vital day for the sides looking to remain in the division.

Woking, Sutton United, Aldershot Town, Rochdale and Altrincham are flying the flag trying to get to Wembley, and you can read our FA Trophy preview here.

While they are away, the title race revs up. The contenders are all out of the competition so it’s game on - and it could be an important afternoon with an enhanced DAZN game covering both ends of the table.

The message from Barnet manager Dean Brennan is quite clear: just keep winning.

Seven wins from eight means they’re in control, but thanks to York City’s midweek win at Maidenhead United their advantage is down to six points again.

It’s shaping up to be a potentially pivotal weekend. The Bees face a demanding day at Oldham Athletic, while York City also have a tough assignment - a sold out away end head to Hartlepool United.

Forest Green Rovers cannot afford to let a home game with Maidenhead United slip by without picking up maximum reward.

As we enter March, who else is seriously in the race? Gateshead are some way behind but if they keep winning matches, there could be twists to come with the Heed still to face all the sides above them.

They take centre stage on Saturday night when AFC Fylde visit in front of the cameras and the struggling Coasters have confirmed David Longwell will remain in charge until the end of the season. For details about how to watch, click here.

With a handful of sides otherwise occupied, there’s a chance to make up some ground.

Two of the teams sitting in the places just outside the top seven are in action as Eastleigh visit Braintree Town and Southend United look to keep the pressure on when they travel to Yeovil Town.

Boston United know time is not on their side and they could really do with a win at Dagenham & Redbridge to keep their fight going.

Ebbsfleet United could find themselves relegated this month. Can they get only their second win of the National League season when Tamworth visit?

National League fixtures:
Braintree Town v Eastleigh
Dagenham & Red v Boston United
