What Happened Tonight Across The National League?

By Sam Elliott

Three games survived Storm Barra - and it was a choppy night for those who did go into battle.

Kane Ferdinand returned to haunt Southend United as Maidenhead left Roots Hall with a valuable point, pictured.

The Blues took the lead with Rhys Murphy the right man in the right place.

But Southend old boy Ferdinand stung Kevin Maher’s men and they are both locked on 15 points.

Maidenhead remain in the bottom three but Alan Devonshire went home happy.

In the National League North, Gateshead made it six home wins from six.

They beat York City 2-0 with nobody getting near them at the International Stadium.

Heed went ahead six minutes before the break, Cedwyn Scott dispatched his penalty for 1-0.

The points were secured through Luke Williams inside the final ten minutes, despite York enjoying some big chances.

Southport - winless until late October - are now in the play-offs.

Liam Watson’s side made it six wins from eight with a 2-0 victory at Guiseley.

The victory was earned by goals from Marcus Carver and Josh Hmami, both coming inside the first half.

Hampton & RB’s National League South game with Braintree Town didn’t survive the terrible weather.
