What Happened On Tuesday Night In The National League?

By Sam Elliott

The play-off picture became a little clearer tonight as one of the contenders were pegged back.

Eastleigh knew a win at Altrincham would launch them into the top seven - and push Chesterfield out.

But the Spitfires left with a point after Ryan Colclough, pictured, levelled 12 minutes from the end.

Tyrone Barnett put Ben Strevens’ team ahead but they had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

It means that if Wrexham and Chesterfield earn victory on Saturday, they will take the promotion positions - unless Eastleigh win big at Solihull Moors.

They face a side who have also ended the season in style.

They may have only drawn 1-1 at King’s Lynn Town but it was their 15th point from a possible 18.

Adam Rooney levelled after Ross Barrows got Lynn’s first goal back in front of their supporters.

Barnet may have had a tough campaign but under Simon Bassey they have real hope for the future.

A 2-0 win over Maidenhead United underlined their improvement.

The Bees went ahead when Harry Taylor scored his first goal for the north London club.

Experienced midfielder Anthony Wordsworth made the points safe.
