What Happened On Tuesday Night In The National League?

By Sam Elliott

The National League title race has turned intense - and it’s now getting too close to call.

Torquay United kept us all gripped after doing what they had to at Woking on Tuesday night.

The Gulls won 2-0 in Surrey thanks to first half goals from Scott Boden and in-form midfielder Connor Lemonheigh-Evans.

It was their fifth win in a row and they’ve conceded just one goal in that time.

Now, just one point separates the top three teams as we enter an explosive final five weeks.

FC Halifax Town enhanced their play-off chances - and kept Chesterfield on tenterhooks.

The Shaymen won 2-1 at the Technique Stadium with Jeff King and Jake Hyde netting the goals inside the first half an hour.

Chesterfield are seventh, level on points with Notts County and Bromley on the other side of the dotted line.

Maidenhead United hit Wealdstone for six as the Stones continue to be exposed at the back.

After letting in seven on Saturday, they fell apart again.

An incredible seven minute hat-trick for Danilo Orsi-Dadomo stole the show, with Dan Sparkes also getting a late double for Alan Devonshire’s side.

Aldershot Town needed more than a 1-1 draw with King’s Lynn Town as they remain seven points adrift of the top seven.

Shots striker Ricky Miller put the hosts ahead before Michael Gash grabbed a point for the away team.

Barnet are looking better under Simon Bassey as they came away from Boreham Wood with a point after a goalless draw.

Tonight’s National League results:
Aldershot Town 1-1 King’s Lynn Town
Boreham Wood 0-0 Barnet
Wealdstone 0-6 Maidenhead United
Chesterfield 1-2 FC Halifax Town
Woking 0-2 Torquay United
