What Happened On Tuesday Night In The National League?

By Sam Elliott

There may have been only two National League matches taking place on Tuesday night but talking points weren’t in short supply.

New Notts County head coach Ian Burchnall hasn’t got off to the start he would have liked.

The Magpies parted company with manager Neal Ardley last week, but on Saturday the 38-year-old saw his new side lose on penalties to AFC Hornchurch in the FA Trophy.

He lost his second game at the helm, going down at home to Aldershot Town, who recorded a first win in five.

A fourth minute penalty converted by Harry Panayiotou got the Shots back to winning ways.

Mark Yates is starting to get his feet under the table at Solihull Moors.

He followed up Saturday’s success at home to Aldershot by seeing off Wealdstone, it ended 3-0 to the hosts.

Ryan Barnett opened the scoring after 29 minutes to get the home club up and running.

Their lead was doubled three minutes after half-time, Reiss McNally in the right place to all-but confirm back-to-back wins.

There was no way back for the Stones when Joe Sbarra made in three on the hour mark.

Tuesday’s National League results:
Notts County 0-1 Aldershot Town
Solihull Moors 3-0 Wealdstone
