What Happened On Tuesday Night In The National League?

By Sam Elliott

The National League title chasers kept the heat on one other on a night when the teams at the top all shone.

Leaders Sutton United got over the physiological blow of losing two points in the final seconds at the weekend.

Impressively, they won 3-1 at in-form Bromley in what could be their most important victory of the season.

Craig Eastmond - in off the bar - put them ahead, before reliable Harry Beautyman scored from the spot. Isaac Olaofe wrapped up the win across the capital for Matt Gray’s pacesetters and it’s as you were at the top.

Just 15 miles down the road, Luke Armsrong’s winner at Dagenham & Redbridge kept Hartlepool United very much in the hunt.

Torquay United did something rare in 2021 - the Gulls won back-to- back games. They defeated Solihull Moors 2-0, pictured, as Jake Andrews and Adam Randell celebrated goals.

Stockport County fans will believe their team can still muster a challenge after Harry Cardwell, Will Collar and Alex Reid all scored as Simon Rusk’s team beat Eastleigh 3-0.

Chesterfield supporters just wish the season started back in December.

They triumphed 1-0 at Aldershot Town, Alex Whittle scoring what turned out to be the winning goal after 27 minutes to dent a play-off rival in the process.

Yeovil Town will be sick of the sight of Notts County.

After Saturday’s defeat in Nottingham, the Glovers blew a two-goal lead four days on as Ruben Rodrigues levelled matters in the closing stages at Huish Park.

Altrincham are back to within sight of the top seven thanks to their straight-forward night against King’s Lynn.

James Hardy and a Josh Hancock double did the damage, while Moussa Diarra’s late winner saw Woking pull away towards mid-table as they saw off Wealdstone 1-0 at Grosvenor Vale.
