What Happened On Saturday Across The National League

An eight hour National League day ended with plenty of talking points and some crucial victories earned.

York City stay top after an eight-goal thriller at home to Hartlepool United.

Ollie Pearce scored twice and Alex Hunt, Dipo Akinyemi and Ashley Nathaniel-George all hit the target as the leaders impressed in their 5-3 success.

Forest Green couldn’t quite match their goals tally but did beat Maidenhead United 4-1 to keep the heat on. Charlie McCann got another goal.

There were two live games bookending the 3pm matches and in the second, the top two were helped when Barnet and Oldham Athletic played out a 0-0 draw.

In the first broadcast, Wealdstone fans would have enjoyed watching their 2-0 win over Aldershot. Max Kretzschmar put the visitors out of sight.

Paul McCallum has been prolific for Eastleigh but his own goal handed Braintree Town their first away win of the season - and means the Spitfires are winless in seven.

Yeovil Town are in great form and left Southend United with all three points. James Plant broke the ten men’s resistance.

Devante Rodney’s late winner against Sutton United made it a weekend to remember for Rochdale fans.

Matty Kosylo snatched a brave point for Altrincham as they pegged back Solihull Moors. It ended 3-3.

Angelo Capello struck early to leave Woking without a win since September and FC Halifax Town looking up.

Tamworth’s Kai Williams prevented Ebbsfleet notching only their second victory as Boston United’s winless run continues - although they Jai Rowe did snatch a point at home to Dagenham.

Kevin Phillips got the desired reaction from his AFC Fylde side as they stunned Gateshead 3-0. Leading marksman Nick Haughton added another to his tally.

Chorley sit proudly on top of the National League North - and they got a little helping hand from elsewhere!

The Magpies beat Leamington 2-1, Danny Ormerod was at the double.

But the three goal hero was Buxton’s Cian Coleman. His stunning treble shot down leaders Scunthorpe United and took his team to third and the good news for Andy Preece didn’t end there.

Chasers King’s Lynn lost at South Shields as Curzon Ashton were held to a 0-0 draw at Spennymoor Town.

Ben Beresford fired Kidderminster Harriers up to fourth as they won 1-0 against Farsley as Harrison Burke’s late winner handed Chester all the points at Needham Market.

Peterborough Sports stunned Southport, Dan Jarvis struck the winner while Liam Waldock was once again Alfreton’s go-to man as they triumphed up at Warrington Town.

Elsewhere there was a win once again for Radcliffe with Hereford and Brackley Town also having a promising Saturday.

Weston-super-Mare are back on top of the National League South as Sam Pearson scored again as they added to Bath City’s problems.

They rise over Eastbourne Borough, who suffered a 3-0 defeat at Chippenham, who have promotion hopes themselves.

Truro City aren’t going anywhere - the are just behind Weston in second spot after Tom Harrison’s winner at Welling United.

Dorking Wanderers are clicking into gear and their 4-0 victory at Chelmsford City sends out a clear message. Charlie Carter hit an incredible hat-trick from central midfield.

Boreham Wood were shocked by struggling Aveley. David Kawa inflicted the damage.

Torquay United fans won’t be happy with a stalemate at home to Tonbridge but Maidstone United supporters left happy after a 1-0 success against Hornchurch takes them up the table.

Meanwhile there were wins for Chesham and Farnborough as Hampton & RB thrashed Hemel Hempstead 4-0. Striker James Roberts was at the double for the brilliant Beavers.
