What Happened On Saturday Across The National League

By Sam Elliott

Chesterfield manager Paul Cook conceded the title as Stockport County continue their relentless surge.

It’s now 16 wins from 17 as they eased past Eastleigh with efforts from Liam Hogan and a first senior goal for Myles Hippolyte enough on the south coast.

Chesterfield were held 1-1 at Notts County in the live BT Sport game.

A penalty on the stroke of half-time from Kyle Wootton grabbed a point and with a 12 point gap to County, the chasers manager said: “The title is done. Stockport are going to win the league and rightly so.”

Wrexham fans feel they still have a chance.

They will have to defend better than they did against Dover but they came out on top in the most incredible game at the Racecourse.

The Dragons won 6-5 but they were 5-2 down at one point - they won it through Daniel Jarvis in the 97th minute.

FC Halifax suffered another defeat, they went down 2-0 at struggling King’s Lynn Town.

Grimsby Town are back on track. They defeated Dagenham 2-1 with goals from Jordan Maguire-Drew and Luke Waterfall.

Solihull Moors are in the mood right now. They performed a great turn around at Woking, their 3-2 triumph was sealed by Ryan Barnett.

Torquay United are improving - a 3-0 win over Weymouth was rubber stamped by Danny Wright as Bromley and Wealdstone drew 1-1.

Yeovil Town did the damage early as Southend United had no reply to Reuben Reid and Tom Knowles’ goals.

Reece Grego-Cox got Barnet’s winner at Maidenhead United as Dan Mooney struck late for Altrincham as they added to Aldershot Town’s woes.

It was an eventful day at the top of the National League South.

Maidstone United passed a massive mental test after throwing away a 2-0 lead to St Albans City. They kept going and won it six minutes into time added on through Johl Powell.

They have a four point advantage as Dorking Wanderers dropped two points at Ebbsfleet, Rakish Bingham levelled it up.

Marcus Dinanga again shone for Dartford, he bagged the winner at Hampton & RB.

Eastbourne Borough are flying and they won again as they sent Bath City packing 2-0.

Elsewhere there were big wins for Hemel Hempstead, Braintree Town and Hungerford.

The National League North’s main title chasers both failed to pick up three points.

Gateshead were held to a timid goalless draw by Bradford PA.

Brackley Town couldn’t take advantage - a late goal from Spennymoor Town’s Jude Oyibo means they returned home with just a point in the 1-1 draw.

Kidderminster Harriers blitzed Curzon Ashton 5-0, Amari Morgan-Smith got two goals.

Kurt Willoughby ensured York City back on track with the winner against Leamington.

James Rowe didn’t have a successful return to Gloucester City - the Tigers beat AFC Fylde 1-0, Lucas Tomlinson scoring early.

Elsewhere there were important wins for Hereford, Chester, Kettering and Darlington.
