What Happened On Saturday Across The National League?

There were surprise scorelines galore across the divisions on a Saturday fit for shocks and scares.

Some Halloween horror shows made it tough for some promotion chasers in the National League - and there were fine first wins as well.

It was Terra-fying for Stockport County as newboys Weymouth came from behind to win at Edgeley Park.

Tom Whelan’s winner five minutes from time snatched the most unexpected result of the season so far.

Torquay United sent out a very clear message to the rest - they are up for a title challenge this season.

A stunning 5-0 win at Hartlepool United was a treat for their fans watching down in Devon, and all the neutrals tuning into BT Sport.

Danny Wright smashed in a classy hat-trick with Gary Warren and Ben Whitfield competing the incredible rout.

In-form Solihull Moors also came unstuck as Maidenhead United bit another title chaser where it hurts.

After defeating Notts County and Wrexham in October, the Mapgies got their teeth into the Moors - super Sam Barrett’s wonderful hat-trick did the business.

King’s Lynn came from behind too as Jamar Loza’s winner, after he drew the Linnets level, secured a fine 3-2 win at the Walks over Woking to lift Ian Culverhouse’s men.

Ben House also got two goals as Eastleigh maintained their positive start by winning 2-1 at Bromley.

Altrincham won for the first time since their return to the National League.

Their long trip to Dover was worth it thanks to Mubarak Adarabioyo just 11 minutes into the match.

Yeovil have made a poor start and are still looking for their first win - and things didn’t get any better for Darren Sarll on Saturday afternoon.

Chesterfield gave their campaign a lift after a bad run of form. Striker Tom Denton scored the only goal of the game at Huish Park to lift the Spireites up to 17th.


Dartford remain top but Hungerford’s heavenly start to the season refuses to relent.

The Crusaders’ ten man ignored their numerical disadvantage to beat three-from-three Dorking Wanderers.

Ryan Seager scored again as Marc White slammed his players’ performance.

The Darts are flying - a 2-1 win over Havant was decided by Jack Barham’s double.

Maidstone battered Concord Rangers 6-0 - with a different scorer getting each of the Stones goals.

Ebbsfleet United got another win, a fine first-half did for Billericay while Slough beat Bath City at the death - Max Worsfold smashes in a free-kick to spark wild scenes.


Gloucester City and AFC Fylde both remain flawless as they both continued their blistering starts to the National League North.

Nathan Shaw and Ben Tollitt scored as Fylde put Farsley Celtic away, 2-0 it finished at Mill Farm.

James Rowe’s Tigers are also 100 per cent - they beat promotion rivals Chester 2-1, the decisive goal coming from Akwasi Asante who haunted his old side on Halloween.

Kidderminster have made a great start, Russ Penn’s men bettered Blyth Spartans thanks to Ash Hemmings and Max Taylor.

Boston United are third - they won 1-0 at Southport with Jordan Thewlis getting the vital goal early on.

Darlington eased past Curzon Ashton 3-0 while Alfreton claimed an important and impressive 1-0 win at AFC Telford - Danny Clarke the hero.
