What Happened On Monday Across The National League

By Sam Elliott

Just like Saturday, we had a title twist, a relegation and also a champion crowned.

Stockport County will clinch the National League if they win at Wrexham next weekend.

That is because Paddy Madden’s penalty earned them a 1-0 win at Chesterfield live on BT Sport as Wrexham dropped points late to ten man Boreham Wood.

Tyrone Marsh’s penalty with time added on looming pegged them back - and it means County are only one win away from the EFL.

The championship pendulum swung again following Saturday’s matches and it will take a brave person to bet against Dave Challinor’s side now.

The race for the top three and home advantage in the play-offs is intense.

FC Halifax won 2-1 at Eastleigh as Matty Warburton got the winner while Solihull Moors‘ deadly strike trio all scored as they won again - 3-0 against Bromley.

Dagenham & Redbridge now need a lot to go their way to reach the top seven. A 0-0 draw at home to Torquay didn’t help their cause but they are just three points away.

Ruben Rodrigues' 20th goal of the season pushed Notts County towards their goal, his winner downed Dover Athletic.

Sinclair Armstrong scored again as Aldershot pegged Maidenhead United back, 2-2 it ended.

Barnet’s Adam Marriott levelled at Altrincham after Dan Mooney opened the scoring but neither team could find a winner.

King’s Lynn Town turned on the style to win 3-0 at Woking, while Yeovil Town and Wealdstone drew 0-0.

Southend and Weymouth played out a 1-1 draw as Callum Powell earned a point for the hosts at Roots Hall.

Jubilant Gateshead are National League North champions and return to Step 1 after three years away.

Even though they let a lead slip at Chorley, Hereford’s comeback against Brackley Town got the champagne flowing.

York City confirmed their play-off place as Mitch Hancock’s winner deflated AFC Fylde.

Callum Stead’s penalty gave Kettering a huge win over Alfreton in the battle for final play-off place.

Kaine Felix threw Guiseley a relegation lifeline - they beat Spennymoor Town 1-0 while AFC Telford are just a point ahead heading into the final day despite a good 1-1 draw at Southport.

Callum Gittings scored as Leamington defeated Kidderminster Harriers 2-0 while there were big wins for Chester and Blyth Spartans.

Billericay Town are relegated from the National League South after Craig Tanner’s winner for Ebbsfleet United.

But Welling United did it themselves - they beat champions Maidstone United 3-2 with Harvey Bradbury’s double securing survival.

Havant & Waterlooville may need to win on the final day to get the play-offs after their 0-0 draw with Hemel Hempstead and Chippenham’s 3-2 win against Hungerford Town.

Dorking Wanderers produced an epic comeback as they won 4-3 against Dulwich Hamlet having been three goals down, Josh Taylor scored two goals.

Harry Lodovica’s winner for Braintree Town shocked Dartford at Princes Park.

Elsewhere there were big wins for Hampton & RB, Oxford City and Tonbridge Angels.
