What Happened In The National League South On Saturday?

By Tom Scott

The National League South is getting too tight to call - and Saturday's round of results did little to change it.

Incredibly, just three points now separate 15th down to 21st after a number of sides picked up key wins yesterday afternoon.

One of those sides were Dulwich Hamlet who picked up their first win in six and only their second since January 4.

After slipping behind to Hemel Hempstead, Hamlet fought back with goals from Lionel Ainsworth and Aaron Barnes.

A six-goal thriller at Concord Rangers saw Tonbridge Angels twice fight back from being behind.

The visitors actually took the lead through Ben Greenhalgh before Temi Babalola and Decarrey Sheriff edged the Beachboys ahead.

After another goal apiece, it was Rian Bray who rescued a vital point for struggling Tonbridge in the last minute.

Weymouth put clear daylight between fellow promotion hopefuls Slough Town thanks to Josh McQuoid's penalty - Andy Robinson making sure late on.

Eastbourne Borough also picked up a shock result - Maidstone their victims of their own downfall after Chris Lewington's own-goal, Jack Skinner and James Ferry adding the gloss after the break.

Elsewhere, ten-man Hampton & Richmond grabbed a point from Oxford City after Luke Ruddick was sent off while Bath City saw off bottom side Hungerford courtesy of an Adam Mann goal.

The title race also got even closer after Wealdstone could only manage a draw at Chippenham Town.

Scott Twine had the home side ahead before Michee Efete levelled matters in the second half.

That opened the door for Havant & Waterlooville who found themselves behind at Dorking until the hour mark before Nicky Bailey's equaliser.

Dean Beckwith's winner in the dying seconds maintained the Hawks' title charge, and their unbeaten away record.

Welling picked up their third win in four, Adam Coombes haunting former employers Billericay Town in the process.

Elsewhere, St Albans edged past Braintree Town courtesy of Joe Iaciofana's 16th of the season while Dartford made light work of Chelmsford City.

Saturday's National League South final scores:
Braintree Town 0-1 St Albans City
Chippenham Town 1-1 Wealdstone
Concord Rangers 3-3 Tonbridge Angels
Dartford 3-0 Chelmsford City
Dorking Wanderers 1-2 Havant & Waterlooville

Eastbourne Borough 3-0 Maidstone United
Hampton & Richmond Borough 1-1 Oxford City
