What Happened In The National League South On Saturday?

By Sam Elliott

We may still be in the season’s first month, but the National League South leaders have a nice little cushion.

Dean Brennan’s Wealdstone are five points clear thanks to another good weekend.

They won the battle of the Stones with a 2-1 victory at home to Maidstone United as other results went for them.

Jacob Mendy and Billy Clifford hit the target as the Londoners won for a seventh time already.

Havant & Waterlooville are up into second and getting in their stride.

A fine 3-0 win over Oxford City saw the Hawks rediscover their goal touch.

There are three clubs on 16 points alongside them. Hemel Hempstead are one of them but Sammy Moore’s team couldn’t hold on against Dartford as Norman Wabo made it 1-1 late on.

Billericay Town turned on the second-half style to sweep aside bottom club Hungerford, pictured.

Moses Emmanuel, Jordan Parkes and Matt Rhead with the goals in Essex.

Two sides tipped to again challenge for promotion met. Chelmsford beat Bath City 1-0 with Shaun Jeffers’ penalty the difference.

Three goals from Elliott Romain scored a sensational hat-trick as Eastbourne Borough thrashed improving Hampton 4-1.

But there was no luck in front of goals as Dulwich Hamlet and Dorking Wanderers drew 0-0.

Concord Rangers found their scoring boots, easing past Welling United.

Newcomers Tonbridge Angels and Weymouth met in Kent. Are Yuseff found the leveller after Brett Williams put the Terras ahead and it ended 1-1.

It’s not been the start either Slough Town or St Albans City dreamed of and neither could move far up the table after they also drew 1-1.

Braintree’s improvement continues. They won 2-1 at Chippenham.
