What Happened In The National League On Saturday?

By Sam Elliott

The National League title race is now red hot after another highly eventual afternoon around the grounds.

Hartlepool won the day’s big game at Torquay United - and they are now level on points at the top with the long-time leaders.

Luke Molyneux’s composed early finish took Pools to three points, and sent a message to everyone.

There are now three clubs sitting on 47 points as Sutton United joined the Gulls and Hartlepool at the top.

But they missed the chance to take over the leadership after being held to a 0-0 draw at home to Wrexham in front of the BT Sport cameras.

Chesterfield are now just two points away from the play-off places after another big win.

They defeated Yeovil 3-0 with a second-half super show with Akwasi Asante, Tom Whelan and Jak McCourt all finding the net.

Stockport County just can’t get going - they were undone at Weymouth.

Andrew Dallas scored the game’s only goal to give a real lift to Brian Stock’s side.

FC Halifax still believe they can be a part of the promotion picture.

Jack Earing scored the winner as they came from behind to defeat Wealdstone 2-1.

Angelo Balanta showed his class with a double as Dagenham came from two down to draw 2-2 with Boreham Wood.

There was another comeback at Eastleigh - and Bromley did some damage at the Silverlake.

Courtney Duffus was the away side’s hero as his winner claimed all the points late on.

Sam Ashford, Jamar Loza and Ben Gerring all scored as Woking won 3-0 against King’s Lynn Town.

Solihull Moors needed Jamie Ward to pop up seven minutes from time to claim a 1-1 draw at home to Maidenhead United.
