What Happened In The National League On Saturday?

By Tom Scott

Drama at the top in the National League on Saturday afternoon with just three points separating the top four going into the New Year.

Both sides in the top two dropped vital points which in turn opened the door for Harrogate Town and Bromley.

In the day's live BT Sport game, Harry Beautyman gave Sutton the lead against Yeovil.

The Glovers fought back before Ben Goodliffe's leveller just before the break made it all square - David Ajiboye netted the winner in the second-half.

That opened the door for Barrow to pull clear but the Bluebirds were held by Hartlepool United who came from behind twice.

First Lewis Hardcastle and then Dior Angus had Ian Evatt's side ahead but Gavin Holohan's 30-yard screamer and a goal from Ryan Donaldson meant they shared the spoils.

Harrogate bagged an away win at the fifth time of asking at Chorley, 2-0 it finished after strikes from Jack Muldoon and Jon Stead.

Bromley were comfortable winners against Dagenham & Redbridge.

After goal 11 for the season for Michael Cheek put the Ravens ahead, goals from Luke Coulson and Josh Rees made it safe.

Dover are making a habit of winning away - their eighth win on the road this season coming at the expense of Ebbsfleet courtesy of Michael Woods' first goal for the Whites.

Torquay ended their unbeaten run in fine fashion against Woking - Asa Hall opening the scoring before Jamie Reid, Ben Whitfield and Ruari Keating netted, 4-1 it ended at Plainmoor.

Chesterfield now have just one win 11 games after slipping to defeat at FC Halifax.

Elsewhere in the bottom four, Wrexham missed the chance to leapfrog AFC Fylde, slipping to defeat at Maidenhead.

The Coasters are just a point above the dotted line after losing their lead to Stockport County - Tom Walker with a stunning free-kick for the Hatters.

Notts County notched a third straight away win at Solihull Moors - Wes Thomas' goal after 72 minutes enough for the Magpies.

Piero Mingoia had Boreham Wood ahead inside ten minute against Eastleigh, but Danny Hollands' goal made it level at the break.

Seconds after the restart, Jamal Fyfield had the Wood back ahead before Tyrone Barnett struck in stoppage time to make it 2-2.

Aldershot and Barnet couldn't be separated and played out a goalless draw at the EBB.
