What Happened In The National League On Saturday?

By Tom Scott

A top of the table clash was just the starter to a feast of a weekend in the MANarama National League.

If you thought the top two going head-to-head would give us a tight contest - you were wrong.

All eyes were on the Proact Stadium for the live derby day clash between Chesterfield and Notts County.

It was the Spireites who made it four wins in five courtesy of Gevaro’s first-half strike.

Bromley had other ideas as they blew away visitors Halifax with five goals without reply in the second-half.

Adam Mekki, Reeco Hackett-Fairchild, Chris Bush, Josh Rees and Joe Kizzi all got on the scoresheet for the Ravens who stay top.

Stockport County responded well to their FA Cup exit last week with a narrow win at Dover courtesy of Frank Mulhern.

It's now nine unbeaten for impressive Harrogate who were made to wait for their winning goal against Aldershot - Jack Emmett had the decisive say in stoppage time.

Woking and Eastleigh's game was disrupted by Rob Atkinson's injury - after a long stoppage, the sides both netted in added time to share the spoils.

Ebbsfleet finally have their third win of the season and it couldn't have been more dramatic - Gozie Ugwu's last-gasp penalty saw off Sutton United.

Maidenhead United also left it late to beat Solihull Moors while Nicke Kabamba's brace helped Hartlepool down Barnet.

Jamie Reid and Armani Little hit two goals a piece in either half for Torquay United who ran riot against Barrow.

The Bluebirds did have the lead through Dior Angus before John Rooney saw red before half-time.

Wrexham are still waiting for their first away win of the season after dropping to Dagenham & Redbridge.

Angelo Balanta and Chike Kandi struck either side of Luke Young's goal for the visiting Dragons.

AFC Fylde ended their losing steak with a fine win at Boreham Wood - Andy Taylor and Dan Bradley on target for the Coasters.

Elsewhere, Chorley slipped to defeat against Yeovil Town. Ntumba Massanka levelled up but Rhys Murphy struck four minutes from time for the Glovers who go second.
