What Happened In The National League North On Saturday?

By Tom Scott

If you thought the FA Cup was the place to be this weekend you were wrong - it was goals galore in the National League North.

Despite only four games taking place, fans saw a whopping 16 goals scored by the teams - but who profited from it?

Chester missed the chance to go top with a frustrating 2-2 draw at Blyth Spartans.

Danny Elliott opened the scoring for the Blues before Michael Sweet and Adam Wrightson put the home side in control.

But five minutes before the break, Matty Hughes netted the leveller to extend their unbeaten run to six.

Tom Allan came back to haunt Alfreton Town at the Impact Arena as Farsley Celtic secured a priceless win in Derbyshire.

It took Nyle Blake just 37 seconds to have the Reds in front before the Allan Show started.

First, the former Red levelled the scores before providing assists for a Jimmy Spencer brace.

Connor Branson got one back for the hosts but David Syers made the points safe for the Celts.

A stunning hat-trick from Aaron Williams gave AFC Telford their first win in six as they ran riot against Guiseley.

Matt Stenson also notched for the Bucks - Gabriel Johnson got a consolation for the visitors who have just once league win in their last six.

Elsewhere, Joe Hanks' goal was enough for Gloucester City to see off Bradford (Park Avenue).

Saturday's National League North final scores:
AFC Telford 4-1 Guiseley
Alfreton 2-4 Farsley Celtic
Blyth Spartans 2-2 Chester
Gloucester 1-0 Bradford (Park Avenue)
