What Happened Across The National League On Tuesday?

By Sam Elliott

There was movement at the top and bottom end of all three divisions on Tuesday night as some shock results kept fans on their toes.

Wrexham sent out a warning as they burst into the promotion places after picking apart second place Sutton United.

Kwame Thomas helped himself to a double as Dean Keates’ men won for a third game in a row.

Jay Harris and Adi Yussuf also hit the target and the manager called it an “excellent performance”.

Bromley also moved into the top seven - and are still unbeaten away from home.

Neil Smith’s side won 1-0 at Altrincham to take a play-off place, the winner arriving after four minutes when James Alabi converted. Bromley survived a loss of Ben Williamson to a red card on 68 minutes to return to London with all three points.

Barnet and Hartlepool couldn’t be separated as both teams fired blanks at the Hive.

It was a very big night at the top of the National League North.

Leaders Gloucester City lost 1-0 at Gateshead - their first defeat of the season.

Second place AFC Fylde almost took full advantage, but Leamington never know when they are beaten.

Sam Osborne struck very late to earn a 1-1 draw - and it sent the Coasters down to third.

That’s because Kidderminster continue to impress under Russ Penn.

A 3-0 win over Alfreton Town was secured with a Kane Hemmings brace, and a precise Cliff Mayo finish. It was Harriers’ fifth win in seven - and they haven’t lost since the first week of the season.

The bottom two met - Kettering Town and Guiseley drew 1-1, the Lions taking a point when Adam Haw timed his first senior goal to perfection.

Brave Bradford (Park Avenue) won 1-0 at Darlington, while Farsley Celtic drew for a third time in four games in a thriller against Chester.

There is new a new name at the top of the National League South - and the bottom.

Dorking Wanderers take over the leadership from Dartford as they edged out Oxford City 3-2.

Jason Prior yet again led the way, his two goals added to his wonderful season so far, but James McShane got what turned out to be the decisive strike.

Bath City are bottom - Jerry Gill was gutted after Dulwich Hamlet turned on the style at Twerton Park.

Gavin Rose’s team move clear of trouble thanks to a 4-1 win in Somerset.

Braintree Town are off the foot of the table for the first time this season - another win for new manager Ryan Maxwell came at Tonbridge Angels.

They won 2-0 in Kent with Tommy Derry and Johnville Renee-Pringle on target.
