What Happened Across The National League On Tuesday?

By Sam Elliott

It was a night of nail-biting late drama across the National League divisions as some big goals hit the net in games' closing stages.

Wealdstone made it an incredible five wins from five to storm up to second.

Last season’s National League South champions won 1-0 at ten man FC Halifax as substitute Daniel Parish, pictured, found the bottom corner five minutes from time.

Dagenham are off the bottom after edging past Boreham Wood 1-0.

Myles Weston was the match winner - but the victory owed so much to goalkeeper Elliot Justham.

He pulled off a fine penalty save to push Kabongo Tshimanga‘s penalty onto the crossbar. It was the keeper who hauled the striker over, but he had the last laugh.

There was late excitement everywhere you looked in the National League North.

AFC Fylde were celebrating after Nick Haughton’s 89th minute winner finally broke Spennymoor’s resistance.

They remain level pegging with Gloucester City - and both of them sit with 16 points from a possible 18.

The Tigers recovered from an early blow to beat AFC Telford 4-1 - Akwasi Asante was at the double, the division’s Player of the Month Matt McClure got one and so did Bernard Mensah.

York City were glad to be back after their stunning late 3-2 win at Southport.

Harry Ben turned the game on its head and it moves the Minstermen up into the promotion places despite not playing for a few weeks.

Brackley Town got their first league win of the campaign, defeating Alfreton 2-0.

Gateshead put a slow start to the new season behind them with a big win over Curzon Ashton while Blyth Spartans left it late to secure a 1-1 draw with Farsley Celtic.

Darlington versus Boston United was abandoned.

Dartford are back on top of the National League South after a fourth win in five.

They were too strong for Hemel Hempstead as Manager of the Month Steve King’s side enjoyed a 3-1 win.

Hungerford Town are deposed - they went down 1-0 at home to Hampton & RB with an own goal their undoing.

St Albans City have 13 points from a possible 15 after a 2-1 win over pointless Braintree - the winning goal arrived from Mitchell Weiss 12 minutes from time.

Ebbsfleet and Eastbourne remain in the play-off places after their 1-1 draw. The Sports needed a Dean Cox strike to snatch a point.

Lyle Della-verde hit a beauty as Welling United grabbed a 1-1 draw at Concord Rangers.
