What Happened Across The National League On Saturday?

By Sam Elliott

Another eventful Saturday afternoon saw the some big results secured up and down the country.

National League leaders Torquay United played with ten men for half an hour at King’s Lynn but still they couldn’t be beaten.

The Gulls survived the dismissal of Asa Hall to stretch their lead to six points.

Altrincham move up into third as their fantastic form shows no sign of slowing down.

Jake Moult got the winning goal at Dagenham & Redbridge and Phil Parkinson’s side power on.

Chesterfield are in fine fettle under James Rowe - they battered Barnet 6-0 to make it ten points from four games with their new manager.

His new signing Akwasi Asante did the damage with a hat-trick as the Spireites soar as Rowe settles in very nicely.

Solihull Moors’ great home run is over - but Bromley continue to impress on their travels.

Neil Smith’s side won 1-0 in the live BT Sport game and became the first side to score against the Moors at home.

Reliable Michael Cheek got the winner on the stroke of half-time.

Boreham Wood won again. Sorba Thomas made it three wins from three in the 3-2 success against Aldershot - and it lifted the club into tenth, two points off the play-offs.

Woking are already in the top seven and they eased past Hartlepool United 3-0.

Goals from Matt Jarvis, Jack Cook and Slavi Spasov made it very comfortable for Alan Dowson’s slick team.

Wealdstone got their first win in five matches as they came from behind to defeat Weymouth, Jack Cawley got the winner for the north west Londoners.

In the National League North, Gloucester City picked a great moment to get back in track.

Paul Groves took over this week and his new side won 1-0 at Curzon Ashton as they remain out in front. The only goal came after 51 minutes from Kevin Dawson.

Kidderminster Harriers refuse to be counted out - they won 1-0 at in-form Gateshead to keep their chance going thanks to Lewis Montrose late on.

AFC Fylde, though, fell to defeat at a Lenell John-Lewis inspired Hereford - the Bulls winning 2-1.

Guiseley beat Southport 4-2 to give their season a big boost.

Glen Taylor scored a late leveller for managerless Spennymoor at York City. Their first match without long-serving Jason Ainsley ended 1-1.

St Albans took the National League South leadership for the first time this season.

They knew victory over Tonbridge would take them top with their rivals inactive - they got it 3-1, Shaun Jeffers making it safe.

Havant & Waterlooville could still have a say in the promotion race. The Hawks impressed by beating Ebbsfleet 3-0, so did striker Tommy Wright who hit two more goals.

Chelmsford City’s problems continue - they lost 4-3 at home to bottom side Bath City. Donovan Wilson scoring twice for the victorious visitors.

Ryan Seager got the decisive goal at Hungerford Town won 1-0 at Hemel Hempstead.

Bradley Ash notched a second half winner in Chippenham’s success at Welling while Eastbourne and Concord played out a 2-2 draw.
