What A Wild Day In National League North Title Race!

Chorley manager Jamie Vermiglio reassured fans that his players still believe they can overhaul Stockport County.

In what was a wild afternoon in the National League North, both the title chasers came unstuck.

County lost at home to Blyth while Chorley went down 5-3 in an incredible game at Altrincham.

That means Stockport still lead by a point but there’s a twist in the tale - the two promotion hunters meet at Victory Park on Saturday.

“We’re clearly disappointed to come away with nothing,” Vermiglio said.

“We made it too easy for them - a lot of things we did goes against our character.

“Credit to Alty as they were excellent, but when you score three goals you expect to take something from the game.”

But he told fans on the video service: “Let me reassure you, we are absolutely ready for these next three games.

“They are the biggest games in the club’s recent history. The boys realise they have made mistakes today but we are prepared.

“We have a massive game next Saturday against Stockport County. We will be ready for it.”
