We’re Not Going Up To Just Enjoy The Ride Says Jubilant Jamie

It appears that Chorley won’t be in the National League next season just to make up the numbers.

The Magpies sealed promotion on penalties as they overcame the challenge of Spennymoor on Sunday.

The second-place side - who lost out on the National League North title on the final day of the season - go up after holding their nerve.

Manager Jamie Vermiglio knows nobody was talking about Chorley at the start of the season when tipsters were giving their predictions.

They are all anyone are discussing now and the manager is proud man.

He said: “It’s a lot to take in - the players have been absolutely magnificent.

“I feel drained and I am sure they feel the same. They have given everything they have for this club.

“This is a massive, massive, massive thing for this town - make no mistake about that.

“This club were being watched by a few hundreds people ten or so years ago. Now we’re playing to 3,500. It’s wonderful.

“But while next season will be a huge challenge it’s one we can’t wait for.

“We’re not just going into the National League to enjoy the experience. We want to go as far as we can and make these fans even more proud of their club.

“But first we are going to enjoy the moment and the fantastic achievement!”
