We Shall Not Be Moved! Johnson Challenges Rivals

Gary Johnson challenged his side to continue their winning form after going top of the National League South last night.

The Gulls have been in fine fettle since Johnson's appointment in September and took top spot after a 2-0 win over Dartford.

It's the first time this season they've gone top and the manager delcared his intention to stay there.

"It’s good that we’re top of the league so early because it means that we’ve gained back the points," he told the club's YouTube channel. "But there’s still a couple of teams with games in hand on us.

"There’s a fantastic camaraderie and although the boys aren’t screaming and shouting about winning the league yet, they are obviously pleased with how quickly we’ve got to the top.

"The boys are enjoying winning and winning becomes a habit and we’ve got to keep up that habit.

"We’ve got to make sure we don’t let anybody knock us off our perch if we can help it."

Next up on Saturday, a huge clash with second-place Welling and for Johnson, it's a chance to show they mean business.

"Saturday is another big game because that will put a bit of distance between us and the other team that were at the top before today.

"In my opinion, they [Welling] are one of the top three or four sides in this league so it’s a big game and a good test for us and it’ll be fantastic if we can get Plainmoor bouncing."
